The teams for the three-match T20I and ODI series against England were selected by the All-India Senior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday. The series would begin after the conclusion of the rescheduled fifth Test match between the two teams at Birmingham’s Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
It’s interesting that the selection committee chose two distinct teams, each with 18 players, for the first T20I and the combined second and third T20I. Rohit Sharma will captain the team in both of these games, as well as the ODI series.
The selection committee has opted to use the same team that competed in the recently finished two-match T20I series against Ireland for the opening T20I, with the addition of Rohit as the skipper, who will take Hardik Pandya’s place.
The seasoned veterans Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja will make their return for the second and third T20Is.
