England All-rounder Ben Stokes announced his retirement from the One-Day International Cricket on Monday. Stokes will play his last game in the format against South Africa on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old tweeted his heartfelt remarks and explained his ‘tough decision’ to retire from ODIs. Calling the three formats ‘unsustainable’ for his body, he elaborated on how he cannot give his 100% to his teammates. On a more patriotic note, Stokes penned “The England shirt deserves nothing less from anyone who wears it.”
Stokes will continue to don England’s Jersey in Test Cricket and T20 format.
