Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt joins Bayern Munich

Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Netherlands National Team, has signed a contract to join the German club Bayern Munich till 2027. Bayern signed him from Juventus for a fee of 67 million euros with additional bonuses.

Herbert Hainer, the president of Bayern Munich expressed his elation about the signing:

“The future face of our team is increasingly taking shape, and this transfer is an important building block in the overall concept that we’re gradually putting into place. De Ligt should become a mainstay at FC Bayern.”

De Ligt played in Series A with Juventus since 2019 and previously with Ajax, a Dutch professional football club based in Amsterdam. De Ligt, 22, was also happy with the signing and called Bayern “a brilliantly run club with big aims”.
