HS Prannoy Beats Loh Kean Yew And Qualifies For Quarter-Finals : Japan Open Badminton

As per reports, On Thursday, Kidambi Srikanth’s tournament was over as HS Prannoy, a top Indian shuttler, upset Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew in straight games to easily move to the Quarter-Finals of the Japan Open Super 750 competition.

HS Prannoy, a former world number eight who had reached the quarterfinals of the world championships the week before, kept on his unbroken run by defeating 8th seeded Loh in a men’s singles second round match in 44 minutes by scores of 22-20, 21-19.

HS Prannoy earned three victories over the Singaporean, who was ranked 7th in the world, in four meetings. The 30-year-old Indian will compete against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinal stage.

Chou Tien Chen just last week won the bronze medal at the world championships. Prannoy, who is currently ranked number 18 in the world, had lost to Chen twice in a row but is only 3-4 behind Chen overall.
