Carlos Alcaraz defeated Frances Tiafoe in a gladiatorial contest in Saturday’s US Open semifinals. Since compatriot Rafael Nadal won the 2005 French Open and the first of his 22 Grand Slams.
The 19-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz defeated the American Frances Tiafoe in five sets, going 6-7 (6/8), 6-3, 6-1, 6-7 (5/7) and 6-3 to become the youngest man to reach a Grand Slam final.
But Tiafoe persisted, saving three match points while regaining breaks in the final two sets. Alcaraz said, “We have reached the semi-final of a Grand Slam, we have to give everything we’ve got within, we have to fight till the last ball”. Alcaraz was the youngest US Open finalist since Pete Sampras in 1990.

The Spainiard Carlos Alcaraz will meet Casper Ruud in the US Open finals 2022 on Monday. Both of them will be ready for the finale clash as whoever wins will be seeded as number one in rankings in men’s singles and moreover both will be aiming for the their maiden Grand Slam Title.
