According to officials, Mark Boucher, the head coach of South Africa, will resign after the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia later this year in order to “explore alternative opportunities in line with his future career and personal objectives”.
The declaration was made after South Africa lost the test series in England of three games. Mark Boucher, a former wicketkeeper for South Africa who played 147 tests and has been in the role since December 2019, and having a contract that will expire only at the end of the 2023 50-over World Cup in October of that year.
As stated by CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki, “We would like to thank Mark for the time and effort that he has contributed in South African cricket as the Head Coach over the previous three years”. He has guided us through some difficult periods and established some strong foundations for the Proteas’ incoming generation.
He has led us at a time when a lot of seasoned players were departing the team due to retirement. We would want to thank him for the job he has done and wish him the best of luck for his future work.
