Phil Salt’s powerful career-best 41 ball 88 not out helped England overcome Pakistan by eight wickets in the sixth Twenty20 international in Lahore. The England opener, who scored the third-fastest half-century by an England batter in the shorter format, helped his team chase down a target of 170 in only 14.3 overs by blasting three sixes and 13 fours.
Salt’s outstanding performance overshadowed Babar Azam’s 59-ball 87 not out, which enabled the home team reach 169-6 and saw Pakistan’s captain tie Indian ace Virat Kohli for the fastest player to 3,000 runs in cricket’s shortest format.
When the host team was asked to bat, the Pakistani captain Babar Azam, who had just hit his 27th half-century, provided the foundation for the total, enabling him to amass 3,000 T20I runs in 81 innings.
Babar Azam shared 48 runs together Iftikhar Ahmed (31) and 47 runs alongside Haider Ali for the third wicket, scoring seven fours and three sixes (18). The most effective bowlers for England were Sam Curran with 2 for 26 and David Willey taking 2 wickets and giving 32 runs. The series is tied at 3-3 at the end of 6th T20I match. The last and final T20 will be played on Sunday and it will be decider and will be interesting to watch which team comes on top.
