India has called up Rajat Patidar and Mukesh Kumar for the upcoming three match ODI series against South Africa, that starts on October 6. Three of India’s reserve T20 World Cup players, Shreyas Iyer will be the vice-captain, Ravi Bishnoi, as well as Deepak Chahar, are a part of the 16-member team that Shikhar Dhawan will captain.
Shahbaz Ahmed is also joining the team after filling in for an injured Washington Sundar during the ODI series in Zimbabwe but being unable to participate. The T20I World Cup, where a different side will start their preparations by travelling in Australia as early as October 6, comes right after the series.
Avesh Khan returns after missing the second half of India’s Asia Cup campaign due to a fever and sinus-related issues. Despite poor performance in the the One Day Internationals against New Zealand A in Chennai, Rahul Tripathi, who was chosen for India’s earlier in the year white ball tours of Ireland and England but didn’t featured in either of the playing XIs, holds his spot in the lineup.
