New Zealand decided to bat first on a favourable pitch. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson stitched together a 61runs partnership after Fin Allen was sent back early, but both batters scored at run-a-ball, nearly putting an end to New Zealand’s innings.
Despite Mark Chapman’s entry and his contribution of 32 off 16 to gave the innings some energy, only 22 runs were scored off the final four overs. Haris Rauf claimed three wickets in the 19th over, including Chapman’s, which considerably favoured Pakistan and they restricted New Zealand to only 147/8.
Despite having a little luck with the dew, Pakistan managed to complete nearly a perfect chase. With 10 balls to spare, Babar Azam guided his team past the target by hitting 79 not out off 53 deliveries. He kept time. He carried through and smashed 11 boundaries, and that should be everything you need to understand regarding him.
He had a poor game performance in the first game and seemed unsure in the team’s opening game against Bangladesh. But, as Babar Azam came to form in a perfect match but Mohammad Rizwan only managed to score 4 off 12 deliveries. Possibly in the sense of being ready for the match.
Pakistan, who just finished playing a match yesterday, appears to be playing lot more consistently in all departments batting, bowling, and fielding. Pakistan also managed to surprise New Zealand by promoting Shadab Khan, who hit 34 runs off of 22 balls and made the mediocre run chase even more easier. Haider Ali finished the match by going down the order with a four and a six.
Brief Scoreboard : New Zealand 147/8 in 20 overs (Conway 36, Haris Rauf 3-28) lost to Pakistan 148/4 in 18.2 overs (Babar Azam 79*, Blair Ticker 2-42) by six wickets.
