The 15 member squadT20 World Cup 2022 for Australia includes Cameron Green in place of the injured Josh Inglis, as reported by the ICC. It seems that Australia won’t have a standby wicketkeeper to fill in Matthew Wade’s place in case injured.
Due to a hand injury sustained on a Sydney golf course, Josh Inglis was ruled ineligible and taken to a nearby medical facility. He won’t be able to play for the rest of the World Cup since he will have to undergo a surgery.
Instead of players like Alex Carey, the Australian selection committee chose Green for his all-around skills. Notably, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis are other two all-rounders with quick bowling abilities, are already on Australia’s lineup. During Australia’s most recent tour to India, Cameron Green, 23, presented a case for himself.
Cameron Green was given the opportunity to open for the Australia senior men’s cricket team despite having no prior opening experience. He earned 61 runs off of 30 balls in the first T20I. Despite occasionally being a little bit uneconomical with the ball, Green showed his ability to hit the deck and bowl rapidly. Australia’s first game is against New Zealand on Saturday in Sydney.
