Ireland Thrashes Two Times Champions West Indies Out Of The T20 World Cup 2022 By 9 Wickets And Qualifies For The Super 12s

West Indies after electing to bat first, started off things slowly and Ireland bowler Barry McCarthy took the wicket of Mayers and Simi Singh also took the wicket of other opener Johnson Charles contributing only 23 runs off his bat.

And it was Brandon King’s 62 runs of 48 balls not out and once again middle order collapse for Indies as their captain Pooran and Powell failing miserably in an all important contest, it was Gareth Delany with the ball for Ireland picking 3 wickets and giving away only 16 runs in his four overs.

And it was also Odane Smith contribution towards the end of scoring 19 runs off 12 balls which took West Indies to a decent total of 146 for 5 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Ireland opening batters came in confidently after good first innings bowling, and scoring 64 runs in the Powerplay and further damaging the hopes West Indies from coming back.

It was Paul Stirling the man high scorer for the match hitting six boundaries and two sixes in his score of 66 not out of 48 deliveries supported by tucker scoring 45 runs off 35 balls not out and finished the game with 15 balls to spare with letting go only one wicket.

West Indies was unable to proceed to the second round, or Super 12, of the T20 World Cup after losing to Ireland in Hobart by nine wickets on Friday. This was the first time since 2007. Only twice in the history of the T20 World Cup has Ireland advanced to the following round. It was last spotted in England in 2009.
