Ralph Hasenhüttl has been sacked by Southampton . A source close to the team revealed that the Southampton players had lost confidence in their manager, effectively making Hasenhüttl’s position untenable.
Hasenhüttl, 55, has accumulated fifteen years of experience with the likes of SpVgg Unterhaching, VfR Aalen and FC Ingolstadt 04 . He had been at Southampton since December 2018, having previously managed RB Leipzig. Despite pre-season hopes of a top-half finish, Saints have now lost three league games drawn 1 in the last 4 games and find themselves in 18th place in the Premier League table.
Southampton will now be looking for a new manager.
Speculation as to Hasenhüttl’s successor at St. Mary’s is rife, with Luton Town manager Nathan Jones being touted by the media as the favourite to get the nod. Other managers such as Marcelo Gallardo, and Sean Dyche. Rafael Benitez are also being linked with the Southampton hot seat.
First-team assistant coach Richard Kitzbichler has also left St Mary’s, the club have confirmed, as the side drop into the relegation zone.
