Big Bash League In Australia Likely To Be Trimmed And Will Have Only 43 Matches Being Played From 2024-2025 Season

From the 2024–2025 season, the KFC Big Bash League in Australia will include only 43 games instead of usual 48 matches. A new seven year domestic broadcast agreement Cricket Australia reached with Foxtel Group and Seven West Media includes the overhaul.

In the new agreement, the BBL’s content was scaled back, according to the Cricket Australia, to “enable enhanced player availability, a bigger share of prime time games, and a stronger synchronization with school holidays.

The Big Bash League has since grown to 61 games, including five knockout games, from the previous 43 games including three post league matchups in the 2017–18 season. Given that the greatest Australian players who play for the national team hardly ever participate in the domestic T20 tournament, the tournament’s length has been heavily criticised.
