Australia’s Opening Batter Aaron Finch Announces Retirement From International T20Is After 12 Long Years

Aaron Finch has announced his retirement from Twenty20 internationals, completing a 12 years career with Australia. In September of last year, the Australia captain earlier announced his retirement from ODI cricket. Aaron Finch told at the MCG on Tuesday February 7.

“Realizing that I won’t be playing on until the next T20 World Cup in 2024, now is the proper moment to step down and give the team time to plan and build towards that event”. Aaron Finch retires from Twenty20 cricket following 103 appearances for Australia, where he captained the team in 76 of those games.

With 3120 runs scored at an average of 34.28 and at an excellent strike rate of 142.5, he retires as Australia’s top run scorer in the format. The top individual score in the format is his career best 172 against Zimbabwe in 2018.

He previously held the mark with his 156 versus England in 2013. He featured in five Test games for Australia as well. Aaron Finch has stated that, I would  like to express my gratitude to my family, particularly my wife Amy, my teammates, Cricket Victoria, Cricket Australia.

And further the Australian Cricket Association for their assistance in enabling me to compete at the greatest level in the game which I adore the most. And I want to thank the fans who have been with me throughout my entire career both during ups and downs.
