On Thursday at Tarouba’s Brian Lara Stadium, the first Twenty20 encounter of a five match T20I series where India will take on West Indies. India won 2-1 after a shocking loss in the second match of the previous three match ODI series rubber, which had some relevance in the year of the ODI World Cup.
India will attempt to give opportunities to young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Mukesh Kumar in the upcoming five games, under the leadership of powerful all rounder Hardik Pandya.
The likes of Varma and Jaiswal received their first calls to the Indian T20I squad as a result of their outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League 2023 and they will undoubtedly want to capitalize on the opportunity. The wicket keeper selection in this T20I series will also be key one to watch out for.
On the other hand, West Indies will be looking for a turnaround in the T20I series after their loss in the test and ODI series. Nicolas Pooran, who will be returning to the T20I setup will be a huge boost in the batting department.
And also wicket keeper batter Shai Hope is also included in the squad and further inclusion of Holder and Oshane Thomas in the bowling department.
