Babar Azam becomes the fastest Asian player to reach 10,000 international runs, beats Virat Kohli in this regard

On Day 2 of the ongoing first Test match against Sri Lanka, Pakistan captain Babar Azam reached the milestone of 10,000 runs in international cricket. He accomplished the feat in 228 innings and is undoubtedly headed to the top of the international greats list for his nation. He is the fastest Asian batter overall and the seventh fastest to the landmark. In this regard, Babar outperformed Virat Kohli of India, who had amassed 10,000 international runs in 232 innings.

Regarding Kohli, the former Indian captain has approximately 23700 runs to his credit in his international career. Despite parallels to the Pakistan captain, the latter still has a long way to go before matching his calibre. But Babar Azam is a class act and might be in the best shape of his life.

Brian Lara, a third-place batter from the Caribbean, also accomplished the milestone in his 220th game at the highest level for the West Indies. Joe Root and Hashim Amla, who both reached 10,000 runs in 217 and 222 innings respectively, are the other two players in the top five.

With Root remaining the only player on this list who is still active, all of these players went on to become legends. Babar Azam is undoubtedly on the path to becoming one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, but in order for that to happen, he will need to continue being as reliable as he has been in the years to come.
