Borja Iglesias and Nico Williams included as Spain decide on Nations League squad

The Spanish team have announced their squad for their remaining Nations League fixtures to be played this month. Coach Luis Enrique has gone ahead and called up uncapped Borja Iglesias and Nico Williams (brother of Inaki Williams) to the squad. Ansu Fati remains unpicked.

Spain have their remaining two games to play against Switzerland and Portugal respectively.

Iglesias has shown good form at Real Betis scoring 4 goals so far this season.

Despite Ansu Fati being a regular name on the list, the young winger is finding fitness after a long time out with a knee issue.

Marco Asensio is also a name that was included in the squad. Despite the right winger having barely played for Real Madrid this season, has been called up after a good showing against the Champions League game against RB Leipzig after he came on as a substitute and also scored.

Sergio Ramos misses the cut although having been on the pre-list prior to the official announcement.

It is a crucial window for Luis Enrique as the squad then head to Qatar for the World Cup. The new faces would be hoping to convince their boss and get a permanent spot in the team.

Spain sit at the top of their group in the UEFA Nations League leading Portugal by one point.

The remaining two games for Spain take place at Zaragoza on 24th September where they face Switzerland and then head to Braga for the game against Portugal on the 27th of September.
