Brazilian coach Tite leaves Brazil after loosing to Croatia on penalties

On December 8, 2022, Brazilian coach Tite announced that he was leaving the Brazilian national team following their loss to Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, with Croatia ultimately winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout.

Tite took over as coach of the Brazilian national team in 2016 and was hailed for his ability to bring stability and success to a team that had struggled in recent years. Under his leadership, Brazil won the 2019 Copa America and qualified for the 2022 World Cup with ease.

However, their loss to Croatia in the quarter-finals has been seen as a major disappointment, and Tite has decided to step down as coach. In a statement, he said, “I am deeply saddened by our loss to Croatia and I take full responsibility for it. This team has accomplished so much under my leadership, but I know that it is time for me to move on and allow someone else to take the reins.”

Many fans and experts have expressed their shock and sadness at Tite’s departure, but there is also a sense of understanding. The World Cup is the pinnacle of international football, and coaches are under immense pressure to deliver results. Tite’s decision to leave shows his dedication to the team and his willingness to take responsibility for their performance.

Brazil will now begin the search for a new coach, and there is sure to be much speculation about who will take over. Whoever is chosen will have big shoes to fill, as Tite leaves behind a legacy of success and stability.

In the meantime, fans will be left to reflect on what could have been for Brazil at the 2022 World Cup, and to remember the many achievements of Tite’s tenure as coach.
