According to Calciomercato, Arsenal and Tottenham are both interested in acquiring Brazilian wonderkid Marcos Leonardo, despite earlier suggestions from South American writer Milton Neves (via HITC) that the 19-year-old was ‘on his way to Liverpool.’ Leonardo, dubbed the “new Neymar,” has scored 19 goals and contributed five assists for Santos this season, and is regarded as one of the finest players in the Brazilian league despite his age. Arsenal has already had success in bringing youngsters from Brazil to Europe, with Gabriel Martinelli being one example of someone they recognised at a young age and brought to Europe, but for Liverpool, it would be a step into the unknown. According to a rumour in Brazil in August (via One Football), Liverpool were willing to spend as much as £50 million for Leonardo, but he will face stiff competition.
