In a press conference, former Real Madrid and Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain confirmed that he will be retiring from professional football after the current MLS season with Inter Miami.
Higuain added that he already informed the club about the decision 3 or 4 months ago and that it was not a sudden choice he had made.
He also said that he came to the MLS for a change as to enjoying life and playing football and to also stay close with Fede, his brother.
The Argentinian has been in fine form despite that as he has helped push Inter Miami towards the MLS Cup Playoffs. He has scored 12 goals in the last 14 games for them.
His illustrious career saw him best remembered for his times at Real Madrid, Juventus and Napoli. He will remain as one of the greatest strikers the footballing generation has seen having scored more than 300 goals in his club career. He also has appeared 75 times for the national side and scored 31 goals.
Inter Miami hold onto 7th spot which is the last playoff spot with two games left in the season. Higuain will look to make the most of it and retire on a high note. They play Orlando City and Montreal in their last two games.
