The Indian cricket squad will have a fresh look when it takes the field against Sri Lanka in the first T20I in Mumbai of the three match series on Tuesday. Several seasoned players, like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul were not included for the T20I series.
Therefore Hardik Pandya will serve as the captain. Many analysts believe that, this marks the beginning of a moment of transition for the Indian T20I team as they can prepare for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Though there hasn’t been a formal announcement, the success of the Hardik led team will be critically assessed in light of the future. Starting on Tuesday, the first assignment is made in that direction.
Sri Lanka on the other hand, will look to go with positive frame of mind as they will be also be preparing themselves for both upcoming 50 over World Cup 2023 and also for the T20 World cup 2024. They will have bring their A game against India as they playing in India which will be an uphill task.
