The decision by Bangladesh to bat did not start well, as Naseem Shah made the new ball talk and even took Soumya Sarkar’s wicket in the third over. Najmul Hossain Shanto also fell to Mohammad Wasim Jr. in the last over of the Powerplay, but an 88 runs stand for the third wicket gave Bangladesh a commanding lead.
The squad fell short in the last two overs, scoring only 12 runs, but Litton Das and Shakib still contributed when they surpassed 100 in the 12th over with Litton Das scoring 69 off just 42 balls and Shakib scoring 68 off 42 deliveries respectively and help Bangladesh to an impressive total of 173/6 in 20 overs.
Pakistan got off to a good start thanks to Player of the Match Mohammad Rizwan’s 69 off 56 balss and captain Babar Azam contributing 55 off 40 deliveries, who together scored 101 for the first wicket. The opening duo put up a fight yet again, but in a Hasan Mahmud over, Babar and Haider both lost their wickets inside the space of three deliveries, forcing Rizwan to lead the Pakistan home.
It wasn’t easy for Pakistan to contend with the old ball, but Mohammad Nawaz’s 45* off just 20 deliveries, which included 5 fours and a six, gave Rizwan room to breathe at the other end. Pakistan will be conscious, though, that the chase should have been simpler and that it ultimately got too close for comfort and won it only with one ball to spare.
Brief Scoreboard : Bangladesh 173/6 in 20 overs (Liton Das 69, Shakib Al Hasan 68, Naseem Shah 2-27) lost to Pakistan 177/3 in 19.5 overs (Mohammad Rizwan 69, Babar Azam 55, Mohammad Nawaz 45*, Hasan Mahmud 2-27) by 7 wickets.
