Another delightful day for Ducati factory rider Francesco Bagnaia as he climbs to the top of the timing charts in the qualifying session for tomorrow’s Aragon Grand Prix at MotorLand Aragon in Spain. This is the Italian rider’s fifth pole position this season.
The Ducati man will be eyeing the chequered flag tomorrow for what will be his fifth consecutive race victory in a bid to turn the fate of the 2022 driver’s championship and take the honors from Yamaha factory rider Fabio Quartararo.
Fellow Ducati riders Jack Miller and Enea Bastianini accompany Pecco on the front row on tomorrow’s grid.
It was a not so gracious day for Aleix Espargaro, Aprilia’s top man this season. After moving into Q2, the Spaniard went wide into turn 1, but maintained his concentration to get a lap time that put him to second only until the Ducatis went ahead. Aleix would finish the session in fourth place.
A frustrating day for Yamaha’s top man and championship leader Fabio Quartararo as he could only manage to qualify sixth as he starts from the second row.
After returning to the grid after a long time, Honda’s Marc Marquez wasn’t able to make it to Q2 as he failed to make it past Q1 and will start the race in thirteenth position. Maverick Vinales also failed to make it to Q2.
Joan Mir had to abandon his return due to ankle injuries and has also decided to lay off from the next round at the Twin Ring Motegi for the Grand Prix of Japan. The Spaniard complained of mobility issues and increased pain.
