Serena And Venus Williams Exit Women’s Doubles In Round One : US Open 2022

According to sources, Serena and Venus Williams were defeated by Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic in the first round of Women’s doubles at the U.S. Open on Friday in Arthur Ashe Stadium 7-6 (5), 6-4.

Ashe had never staged a first-round doubles match for men or women, during the day or night, before this encounter featured two American sisters who had combined wins of 14 Grand Slam titles in doubles but were teaming up for the first time since the 2018 French Open.

At a Slam, their most recent loss in the doubles opening round occurred at the 2013 French Open. They chatted in their seats between changeovers and bumped fists or slapped palms like they usually did when they were playing together, all the while grinning.

After the game, the sisters embraced one another. As they left the court, cheers erupted.
