England after electing to bat first, both the openers Hales and skipper Buttler gave England an outstanding opening start, hitting 48 runs in the Powerplay. After that, Alex Hales started to accelerate by hitting boundaries and openers made an opening partnership of 81 runs in 10 overs. But unfortunately, Hales once he got to his fifty he was dismissed by Santner after scoring 52 runs off 40 balls.
Once he got out, Buttler took his role and started to hit boundaries at will, where at one stage he was going run a ball, Moeen too last longer as he got out for 5 runs to Sodhi. But captain Jos Buttler’s contribution of 73 runs off just 47 deliveries which included 7 fours and 2 sixes but got himself run out and further Livingstone 14 balls 20 runs and Sam Curran 7 runs at the death overs took England to an excellent total of 179 for 6 in their 20 overs .
Lockie Ferguson was the lone bowler who took 2 wickets but went for plenty runs in his four overs. But soon after that, other opener Finn Allen also got out to Sam Curran.
New Zealand captain Williamson and Glenn Phillips started to build an partnership after 2 quick wickets. While Kane was going run a ball at one end, Phillips was hitting fours almost every over and both made a partnership of 91 runs for the 4th wicket. But Williamson was dismissed after run a ball 40 by Stokes when his team needing 62 runs off 31 balls.
But soon New Zealand lost three quick wickets and Glenn Phillips knock of 62 runs off just 36 deliveries and went in vain and in the end he also got out as wickets felt in quick succession at one end. Then, England won by a margin of 20 runs. Woakes and Curran both took two wickets each. England with this win moves to 2nd position in the points table with five points in 4 matches in Group 1.
