Zimbabwe after opting to bat first, started the innings poorly by losing both the openers Ervine and Madhevere were dismissed and following them the Wicketkeeper batter Chakabva also got out to Glover and they were struggling at 20 for 3. But Raza and Williams both started attacking the Netherlands bowling attack.
But, after 10 overs were done, Williams who was looking good and tried to accelerate but got out after scoring 28 runs off 23 balls in which the partnership lasted between them were 48 runs. After that, Zimbabwe kept on losing wickets almost every over and Raza was also dismissed by de Leede after contributing 40 runs to his name.
At in the end Ngarava and Chatara combined runs of 15 and Netherlands ensured Zimbabwe were bundled out for a total of 117 with four still remaining. For Netherlands it was Van Meekeren who took 3 wickets and other 3 bowlers taking 2 wickets each.
Netherlands started their chase by losing Myburgh the opener for 8 runs by Muzarabani. But Tom Cooper and Max Odowd steadied and scored 35 runs in the first six overs of the Powerplay. Both were striking loose balls and rotating singles then and there till 10 overs.
Once both set their eye in, Cooper and Odowd started attacking the bowlers and trying to up the run rate. But Cooper got out after contributing 32 runs. Zimbabwe bowlers again came back and took the wicket of Ackermann but it was opener Odowd who scored an excellent 52 off 47 deliveries and he too got out.
Further their captain Edwards too got out, despite loosing wickets, Netherlands ensured that, they crossed the finish line with ease. In the end, Netherlands won by 5 wickets with 12 balls to spare. With this win, Netherlands have registered their first win in this T20 World Cup 2022 in Group 2.
