5. Francesco Totti
This Italian magician is known for his loyalty and passion. He is among the other few Italian legends who has never won the prestigious title. Totti was an iconic symbol of AS Roma, representing the club 786 times and scoring 307 goals.
But despite all his efforts and loyalty, Totti was only able to win six trophies in his career. But he did manage to win the 2006 World Cup with Italy. Totti ended up as the highest assist provider in the competition. But sadly, European success forever eluded the man.
4. Gianluigi Buffon
The legendary Italian goalkeeper is one of the greatest to play the game but has never tasted European success throughout his illustrious career. He was part of the World Cup winning Italy squad in 2006. He is best known for his time at Juventus where he made 685 appearances.
Although he has 28 trophies to his name, the Champions League isn’t a part of it. He was part of 3 UCL finals in 2002-03, 2014-15 and 2016-17, but sadly failed to ascend the throne.
3. Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero is best known for his time at Manchester City where he was their main talisman. The Argentine has won 15 trophies with them, but never the Champions League. Manchester City did reach the UCL final in the 2020-21 season where they lost out to Chelsea in the final at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto.
A heart condition could see Aguero permanently retire from the game, which will mean that he would go down as one of the greatest players to never with the prestigious competition.
2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Brazilian legend is considered to be one of the greatest strikers of all time. His resume has got everything one would need from a quality striker. But he is probably one of the greatest to ever take to the pitch but not to win a UEFA Champions League trophy.
He has won 18 trophies in his magnificent career with 2 World Cups and Copa America trophies. He also has two Ballon d’ Ors to his name.
Known as the El Phenomeno, he has scored 352 goals for club and 62 goals for country. He is arguably the most high profile player to never taste success in the biggest competition for European club football.
