Top Free Agents In The Football Market Right Now

Free agents are a great target for many managers and teams if they are worth bringing in to the club. A free agent is a player who has just had his current contract expired and is currently not employed to any club.

As of today, there are some big names among the free agents list. Let us take a look at the available players:

The 34-year-old Brazilian is probably best known for his time with La Liga giants Real Madrid where he spent 15 years. Marcelo won 5 Champions League trophies and 6 La Liga titles during his tenure. The left-back is surely a great player to keep an eye on. The following clubs are rumored to be interested in Marcelo: Monza, Arab clubs, Lazio.

Another classic player in our list. The Uruguayan has really proved his worth on the pitch on a lot of occasions. The striker spent 7 years at Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain where he won 6 league titles and 5 league cups. He also was part of the PSG side that were the 2018/19 Champions League runner ups. After spending a couple of years at Manchester United, the 35-year-old hinted at a move to Argentinian side Boca Juniors. A transfer that is just as close to happening. Other clubs rumored to be interested in him are: Borussia Dortmund, Villareal and Monza.

The Spanish star is best known for his time at Chelsea and Manchester United. A part of the Real Madrid academy, the midfielder has won a Champions League with Chelsea and 2 Europa Leagues (1 at Chelsea, 1 at Man United). He also is a two time FA Cup winner. He also won the Copa del Rey with his first club, Valencia CF. But most important of all, he won the World Cup in 2010 and the 2012 European Championships. The 34-year-old seems to still have some tricks up his sleeve and Leeds United are currently eyeing him.

The 27-year-old Belgian winger was regarded as an amazing young prospect. He began his career at Anderlecht and joined Manchester United in 2011. He struggled for play time there and spent loan seasons at Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland before joining Real Sociedad in 2017. He won the Community Shield with Man United in 2013 and the Copa del Rey with Sociedad in 2020. The clubs targeting him are: Everton and West Ham.

The 27-year-old Belgian center-back rose through the ranks at the Manchester City academy. He spent most of his time at Manchester on loan spells at Celtic, Galatasaray and Sunderland. before signing with Ligue 1 side Lyon. Torino are rumored to be interested in Denayer.

The 29-year-old Ivorian right back started his career in France at Lens and then moved to Toulouse. He spent 2 years at PSG and then 4 years at Tottenham Hotspur before joining Villareal in 2021. He is a two time Ligue 1 winner and was a part of the second best team at the Champions League 2018-19 where Tottenham were beaten by Liverpool. He also won the African Cup of Nations in 2015. Fulham and Atletico Madrid are rumored to be eyeing Aurier as their next target.

Diego Costa:

The 33-year-old Brazilian has well established himself as a deadly player over the course of his career. He is best known as an Atletico Madrid player where he spent a total of 8 years. He also spent 3 years at Chelsea. The striker has won 2 Premier League titles and an EFL Cup and has won the La Liga twice and also the Copa del Rey. He also has a Europa League trophy to his name. He switched nationalities in 2014 as he was granted Spanish nationality. Rayo Vallenco are rumored to be looking at Diego Costa.

The 23-year-old French centre-back spent his youth at Paris Saint-Germain. He moved to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2017 where he spent 5 years in which he won the DFB Pokal and the DFL Supercup. The clubs that are rumored to be interested in him are Roma, West Ham and Manchester United.

Apart from these players, there are also a few big names that are currently free agents. They are: Fabian Delph, Loris Karius, Cristian Tello, Hatem Ben Arfa and Danny Drinkwater. It would be interesting to see grabs these free agents who surely have a lot to give.
