For the remaining two One Day Internationals against South Africa, Deepak Chahar would be replaced by the off-spinning all-rounder Washington Sundar, the BCCI confirmed on Saturday October 8.
The most recent of Washington’s four ODI appearances was in Ahmedabad in February of this year against the West Indies.
Deepak Chahar, who missed the opening match of the ODI series in Lucknow due to back stiffness that developed after the third T20I match against South Africa in Indore, has been excluded from the series.
The medical staff will now monitor him at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. After losing the first match of the series, India left for Ranchi on Tuesday for the second ODI. The third match in the series will take place in New Delhi.
