Women’s Asia Cup 2022 : India Thrashes Thailand By 74 Runs And Qualifies For The Asia Cup Finals 2022

Despite having lost Smriti Mandhana the Vice Captain early, India dominated when given the chance to bat. During her 42 runs off 28 balls outing Shafali Verma who seemed in good condition, smashed five fours and a six.

Jemimah Rodrigues struggled at first with a bad pitch, but she eventually found her rhythm. Harmanpreet Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar helped India achieve 148 for 6 in their quota of 20 overs despite Thailand bowlers restricting the scoring rate in the last few overs.

Thailand’s response, however, was never proper. They fell down right away thanks to Deepti Sharma’s triple blow, and by the time the powerplay was over, they scored only 18 for 3. Naruemol Chaiwai and Nattaya Boochatham’s 42 runs partnership for the fifth wicket helped Thailand mount a brief comeback.

But Sneh Rana’s leg before trap led to a collapse. Thailand was therefore restricted to 74 for 9, with Renuka Singh and Shafai Verma both taking one wicket each.

Brief Scorecard : India 148/6 in 20 overs (Shafali Verma 42, Harmanpreet Kaur 36, Sornnarin Tippoch 3-24) beat Thailand 74/9 in 20 overs (Nattaya Boochatham 21, Naruemol Chaiwai, Deepti Sharma 3-7, Rajeshwari Gayakwad 2-10) by 74 runs.
