Women’s Asia Cup 2022 : Pakistan Thrashes Bangladesh For Their Second Win In Two Games

On Monday Pakistan’s bowling attack once again put on a merciless performance in their Asia Cup game against hosts Bangladesh for the second day in a row. After restricting Bangladesh to 70/8 before easily chasing it down to win by nine wickets. Before that, yesterday Pakistan also restricted Malaysia to 54 for 7 and chasing that one with ease.

Diana Baig was able to penetrate through the Shamima Sultana’s defence in the first over, giving Pakistan a commanding lead. The one down batter, Fargana Hoque, followed suit in the following over before Baig struck again to make Bangladesh 3/3.

Only three batters successfully managed to score ten runs or more when Salma Khatun was down to 24* off 29 balls. As the remainder of the team crumbled, only 70 runs were scored totally.

Although Muneeba Ali fell for 14 runs in the chase, Sidra Ameen, who had earlier hit a brisk 31runs against Malaysia, continued to shine with the bat. She struck four boundaries, reached 36 not out and ended the chase in 13 overs with captain Bismah Maroof at the other end.

Brief Scoreboard : Bangladesh Women 70/8 in 20 overs (Salma Khatun 24*, Diana Baig 2/11, Nida Dar 2/19) lost to Pakistan Women 72/1 in 12.2 overs (Sidra Ameen 36*, Salma Khatun 1/27) by 9 wickets.
